Planned Parenthood Leader Claims Organization “Saves Lives”

Dr. Leana Wen sat down for an interview with “CBS This Morning” on November 12, 2018. This day was significant for Wen. It was her first day as the new acting president of abortion giant Planned Parenthood. An emergency physician, Wen is the former Baltimore city health commissioner. During the interview, Planned Parenthood’s new leader proclaimed the liberal organization’s work is “about saving people’s lives.” Virtually all pro-life advocates in America would likely vehemently disagree.

Responding to multiple questions from CBS hosts, Wen stated, “As a doctor, I am proud to lead our organization as we deliver life-saving care to two and half million people every year.” Regarding her decision to become the head of the abortion provider, Wen remarked, it “is deeply personal to me.” She said, “being a parent has clarified my values.” Wen explained that she wished to lead Planned Parenthood in order to help shape the future for her son. Presumably, this future should include unrestricted abortion and no responsibility for women who become pregnant and the men in their lives.

“It’s a future where all people are treated the same, that all people have the right to health care, and where it’s a society where we trust women and we trust all people to make the best decisions for themselves and their bodies,” she said.

Pro-life advocates would argue that mercilessly killing innocent unborn babies doesn’t equate with treating all people the same. According to Life Site, “There’s a reason you won’t find the words ‘mother,’ ‘father,’ or ‘parent’ in Planned Parenthood’s annual reports (other than in their name). They don’t profit when moms and dads protect their unborn child from the violence of abortion. The organization doesn’t tout any parenting classes online or in its annual report. It’s why there are no mother/baby boutiques inside a single Planned Parenthood center.

Planned Parenthood has long been regarded as a powerful political machine. Surprisingly, Wen told the CBS hosts, “Women’s health is health care, and health care shouldn’t be political.” Earlier in the year, the abortion giant announced it planned to spend $20 million in the mid-term elections. Cecile Richards, the former head of Planned Parenthood, once told The New York Times, “We aim to be a kick-butt political organization.”

Between the years of 1978 and 2014, Planned Parenthood aborted a heartbreaking 6,803,782 unborn babies. From 2015 to 2016 alone, the liberal organization killed 328,348 unborn babies. While the new president of Planned Parenthood uses terms like “healthcare,” “reproductive rights,” and “birth control” to refer to abortion, pro-life advocates see it as the senseless murder of innocent lives. During the interview, Wen emphatically stated, “I can’t believe it’s 2018 and we’re still debating birth control.” She explained that she was both heartened and disheartened by the results of the recent mid-term elections.

Wen said, “We saw people of color and women rise up to speak up for reproductive rights.” When asked about the pro-life initiatives that voters in Alabama and West Virginia passed on election night, Wen avoided the question. She merely remarked, “People want more health care, not less.” Voters in West Virginia approved Amendment 1. The successful measure will alter the state’s constitution to add, “Nothing in this Constitution secures or protects a right to abortion or requires the funding of abortion.” It also thwarts Medicaid funds from being used to pay for abortions. In Alabama, Amendment 2 passed. This initiative affirmed that “the constitution of this state does not protect the right to abortion or require the funding of abortion.” Amendment 2 also changes Alabama’s policy to “recognize and support the sanctity of unborn life and the rights of unborn children.”

Planned Parenthood has been investigated regarding allegations it illegally sold aborted baby parts for profit. These charges stemmed from a series of undercover videos recorded in 2015.

Pray for those expectant mothers who are considering ending the lives of their unborn babies and for the eventual overturn of Roe v. Wade.
