Chris Pratt is a beloved actor best known for his role in NBC’s iconic Parks and Recreation, Marvel’s Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy, along with the Jurassic World franchise and many other hits. Pratt’s self depreciating humor and “every man” persona quickly made him a fan favorite. Thankfully, he occassionally takes the time to use his popularity to share his love of Jesus Christ. One such instance happened recently when Pratt was a featured speaker at Disneyland’s Christmas-themed Candlelight Ceremony.
Though Disney hasn’t been the friendliest company when it comes to Christian values, Pratt didn’t let this stop him from using this platform as a way to share Christ with all those who wanted to listen.
When he got up to speak, Pratt read Luke’s synopsis of the Christmas story between song performances. He didn’t stop there, though. Along with the Biblical account of the miraculous event, Pratt also delivered a personal testimony of what the birth of Christ means to him, especially now as it relates to him being a father.
“Heavenly peace: This is a blessing for which we deeply yearn,” the Hollywood star said. “It moves us to welcome this season with a renewed sense of kindness and compassion to others. We gather at celebrations. We create memories with families and friends. We go home. The coming of the holidays brings the promise of faith, of hope and of love. And as the Bible says, ‘The greatest of these is love. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.’
“It’s been a very special and inspiring night. For me, being a parent has really changed my life in so many ways. And one of those ways is to understand, truly, the love that a father could have for a child. The way we love our children, the more we love our children, the more we will understand the capacity for our Father in heaven to love us. Each and every one of us is a precious creation, and He just marvels in the ways that we can try to please Him. That should give us a great deal of comfort. I know it does for me.”
This wasn’t the first time the Avengers icon shared his faith publicly. He made headlines earlier this year after accepting the “Generation Award” at MTV’s Movie & TV Awards ceremony. During his acceptance speech time, Pratt shared the importance of prayer and God in his life, all the while ensuring his message was not received as him bragging, but instead imparted as “one beggar telling another beggar where to get bread.” In other words, Pratt doesn’t proclaim to have it all figured out, but knows where to go with his shortcomings — to the Lord Jesus Christ.
In a culture where Hollywood is almost universally secular or even outright anti-Christian at times, Pratt’s behavior is an uplifting thing to see. Many stars use the platform they gain through their popularity to share their personal beliefs and influence their fans to be of a like mind. Unfortunately, more often than not, this usually involves little more than peddling to a leftist agenda. That is what makes Chris Pratt’s personal willingness to stand up and testify for the Lord — in front of Hollywood’s elite — so amazing.
Hollywood and America as a whole would be better off with more stars whom are willing to take a stand for Christ like Chris Pratt. Hopefully, he inspires a generation of young stars and starlets to speak up and stand for something. Perhaps, seeing him do so and still enjoy success in Hollywood will show them it is okay to have morals, to serve God and to be willing to talk about those values. Being an actor or actress doesn’t have to mean living an immoral life. This is a fact Chris Pratt has proven time and time again.
