Virginia County Schools Introduce Radical Sex-Ed Program

Virginia’s Fairfax County School Board has voted overwhelmingly to implement a sex education policy that directly undercuts Christian values.

The policy, which was approved in a 10-1 vote, mandates all references to biological gender to be replaced by the phrase “sex assigned at birth” in addition to promoting homosexual activity and scrapping any emphasis on abstinence.

According to Christian Newswire, the agenda was passed in spite of overwhelming opposition from parents in the area. Just days before the vote took place, the proposal received 1,300 comments from local parents, 83 percent of which were negative. Students will not have the option to opt-out of the new curriculum.

“Students will recognize development of sexuality as a lifelong aspect of personality,” the Grade 9 curriculum reads. “Instruction will include that individuals are sexual beings from birth to death and that sexuality evolves from infancy to old age. Sexual orientation terms heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual; and the gender identity terms transgender will be defined.”

The decision comes just years after a similar vote in the area mandated Fairfax County schools to include such topics as “gender orientation” and “gender expression” to its student handbook.

The policies have been met with considerable scrutiny by the pro-Christian Liberty Counsel. According to the advocacy group, the changes represent an egregious attack on the rights of parents to raise their children in accordance with their own values. The fact that children are not able to opt out of the sexual education curriculum was deemed especially offensive.

“This disregard for the rights of the parents and for the overwhelming community opposition is absurd,” Liberty Counsel Chairman May Staver said in a statement. “The school board promotes the idea that people are randomly ‘assigned sex at birth,’ when the reality being male or female is hardwired.”

There is little doubt that Fairfax County is promoting a political agenda through this curriculum — one that is inherently at odds with reality.

“It is not a mere mistake of some random assignment at birth. The school board members who approved these changes are endangering children not educating them. This is not education, but indoctrination,” Staver added.

At this point, it should be very clear that school boards are openly promoting radical secular agendas that are completely opposed to Christian and traditional American values. This vote should serve as a warning to parents all across the country: the religious way of life is under attack in America, and it’s crucial that parents stand up for family values wherever they can to prevent this sort of curriculum from spreading.
